Hallo leuk mens, wat gezellig dat je dit stukje leest over ons nieuwe boek: Dieren in het Vilt van Club Geluk. Ja, klopt, ook jij kan dit maken. Vilt is namelijk super easy & snel & mooi & leuk. Kijk, sinds iedereen zich, corona-gewijs, meer moet vermaken in en rond het huis, is handwerken zo goed als een primaire levensbehoefte. Maar ja, niet iedereen kan haken of breien en heeft zin in een groots en meeslepend project. Papier kan natuurlijk ook, maar dat is dan weer niet echt knuffelbaar. En knuffelbaar is zeg maar echt ons ding. En wat is er knuffelbaarder dan allemaal vilten vrolijke vriendjes?  Dus daarom maken we geen dieren in het wild, maar dieren in ’t vilt. In vrolijke kleuren en met simpele patronen waar geen machine aan te pas komt en die dus ie-der-een kan maken. Hier verkrijgbaar vanaf 2 maart 2021.

Spinning the yarn

Graceful landscapes and idyllic sceneries adorn embroiderd paintings: Deer in the snow, quaint cottages in the forest, hunting scenes, lakes and streams, lords, ladies and gentlemen from bygone’s past. It all might have been like this ‘back in the day’, but it doesn’t look that way to me now. I see logos of snack kings, furniture tycoons and pizza pirates. Mobile toilets and parking meters, TV satellite dishes, hotels and wind turbines grace our skyline. Phone chargers and laptop cables accessorize our homes. People with ear pods staring at dating apps or Netflix. Every now and then I truly do see a deer when I’m in the forest; but in the distance, an electricity pylon or construction crane glare back at me also. I’m not some bitter old tart, surely this is as beautiful as what it was before. But I do get a slightly cloying feeling from looking at those corny sketches of natural and domestic scenes, especially when they do not exist in the suburban life circa 2021. That is why I love to add a rubbish bin in the forest, a DHL van on a road or a shopping bag hanging from a chair. Spinning the yarn from where someone left off.
